What is Coconut Cream and Coconut Milk?

Coconut Cream (or known as Cream of Coconut) is a rich, smooth, thick liquid squeezed out from the fresh meat of a mature fruit of coconut. It is creamy white in colour, thick and has mild sweet taste of coconut. One large nut is expected to squeeze approximately 200ml of Coconut Cream.
Coconut Milk is the diluted Coconut Cream by adding water. Coconut Cream has maximum moisture content of 74.6% whereas Coconut Milk has 87.3%. Coconut Milk is not the “juice” found inside a coconut. The “juice” found inside a coconut is known as Coconut Water. Coconut Water is water clear in colour, a refreshing and cool drink.

Applications of Coconut Cream and Coconut Milk:

Coconut Cream and Coconut Milk are major cooking ingredients for exotic Asian dishes such as curries, desserts and other delicacies. Coconut Cream and Coconut Milk also used in the popular Pina Colada, ice cream, yogurt and confectionery products. All scrumptious Malaysian, Indonesian, Thai and Indian food or snack would have utilised Coconut Cream and Coconut Milk.

Storage of Coconut Cream and Coconut Milk

Shelf life for the frozen pasteurized Coconut Milk is 12 months while remained in the freezer. Coconut Milk has shelf life of 4 hours without refrigeration.
