What is Coconut Water (Coconut Juice)?

The inner part of the coconut fruit (endosperm) is divided into two edible parts: a white kernel and a clear liquid; coconut water. Coconut water, also called coconut juice is the clear liquid found inside a coconut. Not to confused with coconut milk, which is milky colour extract of the white kernel.

Coconut water has long been a popular refreshing drink in the tropical countries and is believed to treat a variety of health-related ailments. Coconut water is often sold by street vendors who cut them open with machetes in front of customers where it is available fresh.

Since the introduction of “The FAO Coconut Water Process” by Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in mid-2000s, coconut water is popping up everywhere in a variety of healthy beverage.

Coconut water within the nut is sterile. This means that it is free from microorganisms. Whenever exposed to the air, or to the external environment, the product is subject to microbiological contamination and deterioration. Proper handling and temperature management throughout the post-harvest and processing chain are essential to allowing coconut water to retain its inherent qualities prior to processing.

Packing and Storage of Coconut Water

Coconut Water are packed aseptically into carton or high barrier aseptic bags. Coconut water is packed in 1L, 20L and 200L. Coconut Water shall be stored in cool and dry place. Avoid direct sunlight and strong odour.
